"The March 2014 Patagonia workshop was an excellent way for me to get to some of the best photographic locations in Patagonia. Secondly, the workshop enabled me to capture great landscapes and associated flora and fauna images. Thirdly, it enabled me to learn and increase my technical and creative skills in photography with subject matter experts. The workshop’s facilitators provided ongoing advice, support and ideas that challenged my way of thinking when photographing as well as providing me an almost encyclopaedic reference of new and relevant information to develop my photographic knowledge and skills. An enjoyable and very educational trip!"

A terrific experience – thank you!”

“In April 2015 I was very fortunate to experience the wilds of Patagonia – Patagonia in autumn is extraordinary. An environment which is often lashed by winds up to 150kph treated us kindly. We were treated to perfect autumn weather – every one of the major peaks we visited, Torres del Paine, Mount Fitz Roy and Cerro Torro, were clearly visible as we stood before the magnificence of these amazing natural structures. And on our visits to Grey Glacier and Perito Moreno we had near perfect conditions – a rarity, especially for Perito Moreno, which is only clear on five days of every year. This brilliant photography tour was led by Ignacio Palacios and Canon Master, Richard I’Anson. I cannot express my gratitude enough to both for their absolute professionalism, generosity in terms of their time and willingness to share their expertise and for making this such a fun and exciting experience.”

“This was a fantastic photography tour and adventure, one of the best I have experienced. What a treat to have the guidance of two travel photographers, Ignacio Palacios and Richard I’Anson. Their different approaches to capturing images and post processing provided a rich learning environment and prompted useful discussions and personal reflection. The 14 day itinerary was designed to maximize optimal lighting conditions for sunrise and sunset which in Patagonia in April is breathtaking. We were very fortunate to enjoy excellent weather which made us smile broadly. Lower tourist numbers at that time of the year made travel in general easier and gave us more time for a pisco sour or two. Getting up close and personal with magnificent glaciers, staying in a refugio, waiting for early light to hit Torres del Paine, long hikes amidst the colours of autumn in El Chaltén and marveling at the most magic cloud formations were just a few of the highlights.”

“Bears, volcanoes, geysers and landscapes... I would highly recommend Ignacio Palacios. Having just returned from 18 days in Kamchatka with Ignacio, and Richard I’Anson and 11 other photographers, this was a very memorable and unique tour. It included wildlife, bears, landscapes, adventure and viewing Kamchatka from helicopters allowing photographing through open portholes. Ignacio put together the best of what Kamchatka has to offer. He also provided assistance with photography, composition, and photo editing.  Ignacio is an extraordinary photographer and instructor, and his passion for photography, combined with his photo editing knowledge enables everyone to achieve a very unique experience in this large wilderness.  Infrastructure was basic and much of the accommodation was in tents or huts.  While it was basic accommodation, it only added to the unique experience.  I would highly recommend Kamchatka for those wanting a photographic experience that they will never forget with Ignacio as their tour leader.  I have booked a second tour with Ignacio whilst on this tour, as I was very impressed with his leadership, photographic and editing knowledge, and ability to keep the group interested and wanting more each day.  Thank you Ignacio for an incredible trip of a lifetime”

Finland winter wonderland: 14 - 22 Feb 2018 with Ken Duncan

Finland winter wonderland: 14 - 22 Feb 2018 with Ken Duncan

I am teaming up with Ken Duncan to run a photography workshop in Finland in February 2018.

Finland: the land of snow and ice – extreme conditions and breathtaking displays of nature. For a photographer this arctic photo tour is the ultimate experience. At this time of the year the forests of the Finnish Lapland becomes a surrealistic kingdom bathed in snow and ice. Trees turn into sculptures, and the northern lights cover the skies. Finland in winter is a dreamy landscape; it is the winter portrayed in its purest form.

The atmosphere in far north is unique because of the short winter days. The locations we are visiting have been carefully planned, providing outstanding possibilities for landscape and wildlife photography. Because of short winter days the blue soft light makes landscape images very special.

Capture the beautifully snow covered Taiga forests in Kuusamo and the opportunity to witness and photograph Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights), a magical and colorful display on the sky.

Itinerary and Dates

The tour commences and ends in Kuusamo (14-22 Feb 2018).

We welcome all levels of photographers using equipment from mobile phones & tablets, compact cameras to digital SLR cameras.

During the workshop, we will have the opportunity to process and enhance your images. If the weather is good, we will be out photographing but there are always opportunities to sit down and work on your images when we are in the hotel.

Madagascar and Reunion: 24 June - 14 July 2018 (20 nights) with Richard I'Anson - ONLY 3 SPOTS LEFT

I am teaming up with Richard I'Anson to run a photography workshop in Madagascar and Reunion island in June/July 2018.

Madagascar is the fourth largest island in the world so there is lots of unique things to see and to do since almost all of the flora and fauna on the island are unique to Madagascar. The unique ecology of Madagascar has led some scientists to refer to the country as the “eighth continent” of the world.

Réunion Island is known for its volcanic, rainforested interior, coral reefs and beaches. Its most iconic landmark is Piton de la Fournaise, one of the most active volcanoes in the world. An astonishing lunar landscape. Climbing up the Piton de la Fournaise reveals strange, stunning, but very accessible scenery.

You will see this iconic land at its best and If your partner is not a keen photographer, we would invite you to bring her/him along as you will both enjoy the rich photo opportunities as well as an amazing cultural experience and natural wonders. With its light, wild landscapes and rich cultural heritage, Madagascar and Reunion will feed the imagination of any traveler/photographer.

Puna de Atacama (High Deserts of Argentina): 16 - 27 November 2018, with Ken Duncan

Puna de Atacama (High Deserts of Argentina): 16 - 27 November 2018, with Ken Duncan

I am teaming up with Ken Duncan to run a photography workshop in Puna de Atacama in November 2018.

This place will take your breath away – and not just because of the elevation. The Puna de Atacama is a high desert plateau located in a remote corner of northern Argentina that contains some of the most incredible desert scenery in the world. Surreal rock formations, high deserts, massive sand dunes, endless salt pans, dramatic mountains, volcanoes, lava fields, cinder cones, and turquoise-colored pools. The region corresponds to the Altiplano-Puna, extending from Peru, going through Bolivia and ending in the Northwest of Argentina.

“La Puna Argentina” is a natural prolongation of the Bolivian highlands, with which it also differs because Bolivia has a high open plateau, while the Puna region of Argentina is fractured internally by mountain ranges and depressions. The Andean compression at these latitudes, has produced a series of longitudinal blocks: the high ones have given rise to mountain ranges, while those who fell are now large areas of depressions. The lateral portions of the Andean volcanic arc cross the plateau from northeast to southeast, giving rise to closed areas, where the famous Andean salt lakes are found.
