Welcome to my blog. Here I will post photographs of my travels, news about my current projects, post-processing articles, photography workshops and photography tips. I hope this blog gives me the opportunity to share my photography and travel passions and what I have learnt in this journey in the last 20 years.

║ My Camera Bag - F-Stop Satori EXP

My Medium Format Gear

I have received a few questions about what camera bag I carried to Patagonia. In this trip Pep and I were self-sufficient and had to carry everything  with us (no porters). So I did a lot of research and I decided to take an f-stop Satori EXP. It is not cheap but it is very confortable, has plenty of pockets and I could fit all my medium format gear, plus food, sleeping bag and mat. I bought it from Camera Pro, one of our main sponsors. If you are interested in buying this or another F-stop camera bag, they will give you a 20% discount. And not only to people coming to the workshop but to everyone who reads this and lets them know.

My Medium Format Gear

As a travel photographer, I always say that I travel as light as possible. I took all my gear. It was bloody heavy but I don\'t regret it as I used every single lens. The 300 mm F4 (Pentax SMCP-FA FA 645 300 mm F/4.0) was great to shoot guanacos and wildlife in general. I also used  it to shoot close ups of the peaks. The 120mm (Pentax FA 645 120mm f/4 MACRO) and the 55mm (SMC FA645 55mm F2.8 AL [IF]) were great to shoot the mountains from the distance. I did not use the wide angle (smc DA 645 25mm f/4 AL (IF) SDM AW) as much as I thought I would though but I will take it again in March. The 120mm and the 300mm were not designed for the Pentax 645D and I had to do some fine tune adjustment tests but their perfomance is simply amazing.

I am a Nikon man but there was no more room in my bag for photography gear. When I do short trips I normally take my medium format camera, but when I travel for long periods of time I always take my Nikon SLR and a small camera such as the Fuji X100s, X-Pro or Sony RX1. Another great small camera I discovered in Patagonia is the Sony RX100. That is one of the cameras that Pep was testing during the trip. Very compact and light, good quality and with a lot of functions.
