║ Travel Photography - TPOY 2014
25 November 2014
The finalists for Travel Photographer of the Year (TPOTY) were announced some weeks ago I am very honoured to be included amongst the list of finalists’ names. It is particularly pleasing to see a few other fellow Australian and Spanish photographers amongst the finalists such as Judith Conning, Tom Putt and Josh Holko.
This is the third time I have entered and the second time I have reached the finals. I love this competition because in the final round, judging takes place on actual prints rather than digital images (like the APPAs in Australia for example). I have now sent my four prints to the competition and as always I have really enjoyed the process of preparing the final images for printing.
I am a big supporter for judging prints over digital images. There is something very special about a beautifully produced fine art print. I really don’t understand photography if some of your best shots don’t get printed. It is so much fun and especially when you print your own work!
Competitions that judge prints are disappearing these days and so I fully support this competition for keeping the craft alive.
