║ Salar de Uyuni wins LUX GOLD
28 November 2014
I can now announce that I am very very stoked, humbled and happy to say that I have won a LUX GOLD AWARD in the landscape and nature category in Spain. This is a national prize and one of the most important awards you can get in professional photography here. They have been running for 22 years, a bit like the APPAs in Australia.
When I came back to Spain a few weeks ago I decided to join the AFP (Asociación Fotógrafos Profesionales) and they encouraged me to enter. It was my first time!. I am so happy to have won an award with a photograph of El Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia, a place that I absolutely love.
Australia is full of great talented photographers but in particular I would like to thank Peter Eastway, Christian Fletcher, Tony Hewitt and Richard I'Anson. Australian Photographers that I admire and have greatly influenced my work whilst in Spain and later in Australia. Without their help and advice I would not have made the decision to be a full time professional photographer and achieved this.
The LUX awards ceremony was held in Barcelona on the 27th of November in the CCCB (Centre de Cultura Contemporania de Barcelona) and you can watch a short video with some interesting works here https://vimeo.com/113076448
