║ NSW AIPP Science, Wildlife and Wildplaces Photographer of the Year!!!
22 March 2016
I had a terrific time during the NSW Epson awards judging last weekend. I met many photographers and very good people, who for years I had only been able to 'see' in Facebook. I really enjoyed the experience of judging in this competition and I am looking forward to judging more... It was great to meet the AIPP NSW team and thanks to Jacqui Dean, Anni Payne, David Paterson, Charles Foulsham, Milton Gan, Nuran Zorlu, David Glazebrook,Kaz Tuckwell, Chris Buechner, Hilary Wardhaugh, Scott Portelli, Nadine Saacks, David Oliver etc etc for some good chats and support during the weekend.
It was also exciting to enter the awards again... I entered 4 images in Science, Wildlife and another 4 in Landscape and got 6 Silver Distinction and 2 Silver awards so I was already very happy with my best results ever in this competition but yesterday I was lucky enough to be awarded the NSW AIPP Science, Wildlife and Wildplaces Photographer of the Year!!!.
Congratulations to Kirsten Woodforth and John Wiseman for being finalists with some great images and to Pamela Pauline, for some incredible wildlife and landscape images and getting the highest scoring print award. You are really making think of going to Africa again! Love your work!
Also congratulations to all the other award winners including Linda Beks who took the overall NSW Professional Photographer of the Year award.
Congrats to my good friend and colleague from The Light Collective Adam Williams who took out the Landscape category (again!), to Nuran Zorlu who took out the Travel Category for the 2nd straight year and to Luke Tscharkewho in his very first year won the NSW Emerging photographer of the year.
Again, thanks to the boys of The Light Collective, Adam Williams, Ricardo Da Cunha, Luke Austin, Paul Hoelen, as I said yesterday during the awards ceremony, you all inspire me to push my creativity boundaries to new levels and since I have been working with you I am certainly improving as an image maker. #thelightcollective
Also thanks so much to Paul Jarvis of ProLab in Perth, who did an awesome job with my prints again.
Quick thanks to all involved with the awards on the weekend. Everyone at the AIPP NSW, the judges, the print handlers and of course the all sponsors including Epson/Bruce Williams, L&P/Bruce Pottinger, Momento / Libby & Jeff and Lacie. Thank you for your support and see you all in Melbourne for the big one!
